Mark Donovan
(Zoning Officer)
Mark Donovan joined East Pikeland Township in June 2022.
Prior to East Pikeland, Mark spent time in both the federal government and the private sector. He began his professional career at the US EPA as an environmental engineer through the co-op program at Drexel University in 2009, becoming a full-time inspector for the Region III air division in Philadelphia upon graduation in 2011. He was directly responsible for major and minor facility inspections, Clean Air Act enforcement, and permit reviews. In 2012, Mark shifted into data analysis at IHS, which has since merged with Markit and is now part of S&P Global. In his role there, he researched and analyzed oil and gas well data for the energy division, which develops products for petroleum engineers across the US. Mark moved to the Phoenixville area with his wife, Mary, in October 2016. Shortly thereafter, he ran for local office and was elected as a supervisor in neighboring Schuylkill Township the following year. He has worked closely with the Schuylkill Planning Commission and Phoenixville Regional Planning Committee as a board liaison since 2018. It was Mark’s enthusiasm for local government that led him to pursue a full-time career in public service. To that end, he joined the Villanova Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) program in January 2021, and he completed the program with a certificate in city management in May 2023. In his spare time, Mark enjoys watching and playing baseball, hiking, growing superhot peppers, playing video games, and hanging out with Mary and their four insatiable cats.
