Electronics Recycling Information

Recycling Electronics Guidelines

Covered Device Recycling Act 108 of 2010 bans certain types of electronics (laptops, desktops, monitors, televisions, et al.) from being placed in a landfill.  Municipal trash haulers are banned from mixing these electronic devices with any trash going to the landfill.  Instead, all such electronics must be recycled in an approved recycling facility.

Local Options:

Lanchester Landfill - 7224 Division Highway, Narvon PA 17555. (610)273-3771

The Landfill will accept:

1 TV per household (no projection TVs) FREE

Up to 3 computers and computer peripherals FREE

You must be a Chester County resident, have your ID.

Items must be intact (not dis-assembled). Be prepared to unload your own items.

If you have an odd item you need to recycle Earth 911 is a great resource to find local locations to dispose of those tricky items.

Don't forget to completely wipe your computers and mobile phones before recycling!   Many companies will not do this for you, which could put your personal information at risk. For a simple tutorial on how to erase your personal data visit http://comparite.ch/erase-data

If your computer and/or printer are still in good condition please consider donating them to TeamChildren in Audubon, an organization that provides computers to needy children.  Donations of computers, peripherals and printers are accepted.  For more information:  www.teamchildren.org.

You can take your old office technology (any brand, any condition, even if you purchased it somewhere else) to your local Staples store (learn more at staples.com/recycle).

For more information you can visit the Pennsylvania DEP website, or call their Recycling Hotline at 1-800-346-4242.
