This Double Burr-arch bridge is 105 feet long. It was built in 1866 and is located on Rapps Dam Road. It was constructed by Benjamine F. Hartman, and is one of three covered bridges that cross French Creek.
The bridge is named for George Rapp, who operated the nearby mill, known as Snyder’s Mill. At the time of its construction, it was the longest covered bridge in Chester County. The Burr arch truss, as the design became known, used two long archers, resting on the abutments on either end, that typically sandwiched a multiple kingpost structure.
